Maybe That's What It Takes to get on Top Of The Pops (TOTP)

24.10.2003
When Alex made her memorable TOTP debut she was one of the few artists to perform on the show without any record to promote. For this her 2nd appearance she sang "Maybe That's What It Takes", her forthcoming single and a song that helped her to glory in the Fame Academy Final.
Alex Parks enjoying herself.Spiky haired Alex was stylishly dressed down for the occasion, wearing an outer purplish T-Shirt over a white vest, designedly scruffy jeans, a pair of trainers and an interesting loosely laced mitt on her left hand. Her T-Shirt sported the words "Greely 5-Pitch", a baseball theme perhaps?
Anyway enough of all that, she looked fine, how was the performance? She sang with a clarity and sadness that befits the mood of the song. Alex has a great stage presence and those intense looks to camera just connect. As David Grant said of Alex before she even got into the final 13, she's "incredibly watchable".
Her single will be released on Monday 17 November and will also feature another song that Alex performed in the Fame Academy final, "Beautiful". It was Alex's favourite song as an F.A. student and also the song that she sang in the televised heat to gain entry into the Academy.
