“My Lover’s Prayer” due for Christmas release.

Sunday, 19 October 2003
Robin was back in the Radio 2 studios today, this time as Michael Parkinson's guest and promoting his forthcoming single "My Lover's Prayer" which features Alistair Griffin.
Robin explained the song is originally a track on a Bee Gees album ("Still Waters" 1997) and he has always believed it could be a hit. Robin says he is really happy to be bringing the song out with Alistair just in time for Christmas.
Michael played the song, which is anthemic in the best Bee Gees tradition, and asked Robin what it was that made him choose Alistair for the song. Robin, who championed Alistair throughout Fame Academy explained that "...he had an engaging tone... the kind of thing that you could hear somebody on the radio and say well, I recognise that voice...but there was something more ...an engaging voice which almost invited you in regardless of whether you wanted to be or not". He also rated the Castleton crooner's future in songwriting "he does have the ability to be a really good songwriter and it's just so important in this business."Alistair Griffin croons to the crowd.
Giving his views on talent contests like Fame Academy, Robin said "I think we have to be very careful today that they are not just gong shows... that they are shows where they can actually produce credible talent and I think to that end you have to be evenhanded and fair and make the artist that you are judging feel that this is not the end of the road"
Underlining Robin's plea for compassion Michael added "...there is too, that temptation that some people have not avoided which is to just be rude and confrontational to the young people, when after all, all they are trying to do is make a career."
Whoever could he have been thinking of ? Perhaps Alistair may have some idea!
No more rudeness and confrontation for Ali, we think this shrewdness of a collaboration with Robin could turn out nicely for them both! (Cue a George Formby impression from Alistair...)
Michael Parkinson confirmed that the release date for My Lover's Prayer is 13th December 2003.
